ST TERESA’S FUNDRAISERS REWARDED WITH AFTERNOON TEA
02/08/06
Staff from PWS in Newton Aycliffe, have been rewarded with a special afternoon treat, after being named as the most creative fundraisers in St Teresa’s Hospice’s ‘Tea at 3’ campaign 2006.
As a reward for their hardwork, company representatives Anne Rands, Claire Elkin, Gillian Tulip, Jill Shaw, Helen Gillender and Jane Hubery were chauffeur driven in a limousine to Blackwell Grange Hotel in Darlington, where they were able to put their feet up and enjoy afternoon tea courtesy of Blackwell Grange and limousine hire company, Quo Vadis.
Kitchen component distributor, PWS, was one of a number of local businesses and Darlington schools that took part in the annual ‘Tea at 3’ campaign, raising a total of £6,000 in fundraising tea parties and individual donations.
All proceeds will now be used to fund St Teresa’s Hospice’s palliative and respite care services, including Hospice at Home, counselling and complimentary therapies.
St Teresa’s Hospice Director, Jane Bradshaw, said: ‘Everyone involved with St Teresa’s Hospice is extremely grateful to all those companies, schools, and individuals, who supported this year’s ‘Tea at 3’ campaign.
The staff at PWS worked extremely hard to do more than just serve tea and I am happy to be able to reward them with their afternoon treat.”
Ione Hanam, Personnel Manager for PWS, said: PWS has been supporting St Teresa’s Hospice for more than 12 years and it is one of the company’s five adopted charities.
This was the second time we had taken part in St Teresa’s Hospice’s ‘Tea at 3’ campaign and we were determined to beat last year’s fundraising total of £160. I am happy that we were able to achieve this and we are all thrilled to have been recognised as the campaign’s most creative fundraisers.”
