A brand-new conference for fundraisers in Ireland is due to be held on 28 September in Dublin. ‘Fundraising Ireland 2006’ will offer a full day of seminars with an emphasis on individual giving bringing the brightest and best of fundraising techniques and thinking.

The programme has been brought together by Penny Stephens of Back Page Books, who for almost eight years was editorial director of Professional Fundraising magazine in the UK. Although there are events for fundraisers in Ireland, this is based around individual giving and we hope it will fill a need in the sector , Stephens says. Ireland is a burgeoning environment for fundraisers and they are hungry for information.

Fundraising Ireland 2006 brings together some of the most well-respected and knowledgeable speakers from both Ireland and the UK. An opening plenary by Deirdre Garvey, chief executive of The Wheel, will take an overview of the fundraising sector in Ireland, looking at its past, present and future.
