Survey for Home Office on barriers to innovative fundraising

Howard Lake | 10 January 2006 | News

The Institute of Fundraising and New Philanthropy Capital are conducting research on behalf of the Volunteering and Charitable Giving Unit (VCGU) at the Home Office to understand the opportunities and barriers to charities and other organisations investing in new fundraising techniques or campaigns.

The two organisations are inviting members, clients and fundraisers in England to share their thoughts and experience in an online survey. The results of this survey will be made available to the Home Office on a grouped and anonymous basis only.

The research should provide useful input both from fundraisers and, given that charity New Philanthropy Capital advises donors and funders on how to give more effectively, from donors and funders.

The survey has 36 short questions and “will take 10 to 15 minutes to complete”, according to the Institute.

Aswell as constraints on fundraising, the survey covers loans, insurance, and different types of fundraising.

The deadline for responses is 20 January 2006. Please note this survey is only designed to cover England so responses are not being sought from those in other parts of the UK.

The survey should help shape VCGU’s idea for a fund to help reduce the risks charities face when they try innovative ways of fundraising.
