Four Acre Trust to 'spend out' remaining funds

The Four Acre Trust is embarking on a ‘spend out’ policy that will mean an additional £2.5 million per year available to selected charities each year for the next eight year.s

Founded in 1995 by John Bothamley with funds achieved through business interests in the building sector, Four Acre Trust works to help people “to make the most of their lives”.

John Bothamley said: “By spending our capital and concentrating on cahrities that attempt to prevent problems (rather than curative), we hope to make a much bigger impact that just spending out annual income.”

Grants of between £3,000 and £300,000 will be available to charities within the general scope of helping people make the most of their lives. The trust particularly welcomes applications from charities working with young people, and it is expected that up to a third will be working in the international arena.
