No additional funding for London 2012 Olympics in pre-budget report

The Chancellor Gordon Brown MP surprised sports administrators yesterday by not announcing any additional funding for the British Olympic team in his pre-budget report.

The British Olympic Association had been hoping for investment to double from its current £45 million a year in the run-up to London’s hosting of the 2012 Olympic Games.

UK Sport commented that it too was disappointed that the Chancellor had made no mention of additional funding.
