Government commits to change on voluntary sector funding
The Government yesterday acknowledged that there were problems with funding of the voluntary sector.
Home Office Permanent Secretary, Sir John Gieve, recognised that the Government lacked expertise in working with the voluntary sector at the Public Accounts Committee hearing. The hearing took place to discuss the recommendations of the National Audit Office (NAO) report on government funding of the voluntary and community sector, ‘Working with the Third Sector’.
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) was commissioned by the NAO to research the impact of government funding practices on the sector in order to inform the report.
