HMRC sets up Charities Advisory Group

Howard Lake | 20 July 2005 | News

A new advisory group at HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for liaising with the voluntary sector over the administration of the taxation system met on Friday for the first time, according to Third Sector magazine.

The new group will address issues such as Gift Aid reclaims and audits, VAT and PAYE of charities. Despite the involvement of groups such as the Charity Finance Directors Group, the Institute of Fundraising, and the Charities’ Tax Reform Group, the reform of the VAT system will not be on the agenda insofar as that is the remit of the Treasury.
