BT launches BT Community Connections National Award

Howard Lake | 11 September 2005 | News

BT has launched a new level of the BT Community Connections scheme, the National Award. This will match community groups with BT employees who will provide professional advice and expertise, for the long-term benefit of the group and its community.

Solutions Packages will be tailored in consultation with winning groups to meet their specific needs. The packages will be designed to help overcome the issues and challenges that often come hand in hand with the benefits of IT solutions. They will include; PR & marketing workshops, financial advice, business strategy and planning tactics. Following implementation, the relationship will be sustained, with a relevant BT employee assigned through the BT Volunteering scheme who will provide regular and continued support to the group.

BT Community Connections started in 2000 to provide internet access to communities who could potentially be left behind by the digital revolution. The scheme awards a NEC PC and Microsoft software package worth more than £1,300 as well as a free 12 month internet connection to BT Yahoo! Anytime to community and voluntary groups across the UK who can demonstrate how internet access would benefit their wider community.
