Charity Commission launches campaign to recruit more charity trustees

Howard Lake | 22 August 2005 | News

The Charity Commission and TimeBank have launched their ‘Get on Board’ campaign, which aims to recruit more trustees to the voluntary sector.

Half of all charities claim to have problems recruiting new trustees, and research shows that only 15% of trustees are under 40 years old. This campaign will seek to help charities fill their vacancies, and to encourage younger people and those from minority communities to volunteer.

An online marketing campaign and targeted print advertising will be used to communicate the value of becoming a trustee to young professionals. Employers will be encouraged to support staff who wish to volunteer as trustees. Careers advisers will also encourage job-hunters to consider trusteeship as a way of gaining skills and experience.
