Blogathon 2005 is happening now, with bloggers updating their websites over 30 minutes for a 24 hour period and collecting sponsors or pledges to donate to charity.

A Blogathon is a marathon blog session in aid of charity. Participants have to commit to update their site every 30 minutes for a day, and raise at least $5 before getting underway.

The first Blogathon was held on 28 July 2001 and raised $20,099, twice its target. A year later 212 Blogathon participants raised $58,446 for charities, and in 2003 401 bloggers raised $102,534. The organiser took a year off in 2004, but the event is back again this year.
