With impeccable timing, if you live in the currently sultry south east at any rate, WaterAid has launched its drink more water campaign. The campaign’s website demonstrates that even public information campaigns can and should have a fundraising element.

The Drink More Water campaign aims to encourage people in the UK to enjoy the health benefits of drinking enough water and to raise awareness of the daily struggle faced by 1.1 billion people who do not have access to clean water in the developing world.

The campaign website features information and advice to help ensure people drink enough water. For example, a hydration calculator will allow people to input personal details to reveal the difference between their perceived and actual hydration level – and find out how much water they may need to top up.

In return for this health advice, WaterAid is asking people to make a donation of £15 towards its work, the cost of providing clean water for life to one person in a WaterAid project. The ‘donate’ button is only the second navigation option across from the opening ‘welcome’ option, so is clearly a key element of the site.

Ravi Narayanan, Chief Executive of WaterAid said: “The Drink More Water initiative offers a unique opportunity to commit to a healthier lifestyle and at the same time help bring clean water to the world’s poorest people.”
