Whitbread has launched a national search for the country’s best young achievers, with over £10,000 worth of prizes available to the winners, together with a year-long programme of “exciting opportunities that money alone just can’t buy”.

Open to anyone aged between 16 and 25, the Whitbread Young Achiever Awards are designed to celebrate the outstanding achievements of young volunteers in four categories – arts, community, environment and sport.

The awards are run in partnership with the Home Office Volunteering and Charitable Giving Unit.

The four winners will each receive a cash prize of £2,000 for personal and project development, £250 in leisure vouchers as well as a package of “money can’t buy” opportunities from Whitbread. Last year’s winners for example, were given opportunities to help produce a BBC radio programme, to be a journalist for the day alongside the editor of a national newspaper, and to shadow a government minister.

This year’s Whitbread Young Achievers will be recognised at a celebration event hosted by TV presenter, June Sarpong, in London on 23 November 2005.

The closing date for entries is 15 July 2005.
