Big Lottery Fund grants pass the £6 billion mark

Funding for an adventure centre in South London has taken the Big Lottery Fund through the £6 billion mark in funding to good causes across the UK.

The £301,000 funding for the Peckham Rye Adventure Centre came from the Big Lottery Fund’s £750 million New Opportunities for PE and Sport Programme and brings the total number of projects funded in England to more than 1,210. Across the country, this programme is funding projects such as the improvement of sports pitches, changing rooms and equipment, and the building of new indoor and outdoor facilities for schools and local communities.

The Big Lottery Fund was formed by the merger of the New Opportunities Fund and the Community Fund. It is the largest of the National Lottery good cause distributors, with responsibility for distributing more than half of all money raised by the lottery for good causes.
