Tour operator to support overseas horse charity
Overseas equine welfare charity, the Brooke, has been adopted by the tour operators Discover Egypt.
The company, which operates cruises on the Nile, will be providing the Brooke with cash/prize sponsorship, donations per Nile cruise client and sponsorship of practical items including overhead sunshades in the horse and carriage waiting areas in resorts, and will be highlighting the charity’s work in its holiday brochures.
The Brooke currently helps over 100,000 working equine animals in Egypt alone, by providing free veterinary care, and training and education for millions of animal owners via a network of mobile veterinary teams and community participation.

In particular, the charity focuses its help at the carriage horse owners of Luxor, Aswan and Edfu, which are frequently used by Discover Egypt’s clients when visiting Egypt, and can fall victim to overwork, dehydration and lameness.
John Trampleasure, Director of Fundraising at the Brooke, said of the new tourism partnership: “Without tourism, these horse drawn carriages wouldn’t exist and we are delighted to have such a worthwhile partner in Discover Egypt”.
