Midas presents two approaches to capital appeal
Two approaches to raising funds for a capital appeal will be explored at a seminar on 7 April 2005 run by Midas Charity Appeals.
At the training course, Helen Somerset Howe, of the Rainbow Centre, will explain how she is going about raising £800,000 solely by networking and without the support of an
appeal committee. In January 2005 she received a lead gift of £250,000.
Robert Vincent, past chairman of Buzzacott, will explain how he is running
an appeal on the traditional patrons/chair/committee model.

Ian Kerr, of Midas Appeals said: “Many fundraisers find capital appeals increasingly problematic. Securing the services of an influential chairman and committee representative of the funds to which the appeals will go are often mentioned as special problems.
“This seminar will look at case material from all sizes charity, but particular emphasis will be given to less popular causes such as the homeless, the deaf, disabilities, and charities without a clearly defined constituency from which to draw funds.”
“Effective Capital Appeals: How to Plan and Manage a Capital Appeal” will be held from 10.00 to 16.30 on 7 April 2005 at Help the Hospices, London WC1. The fee is £125 per person (including VAT).
