Race for Life fundraiser wins Motivator of the Year award

Louise Holland, the Director of National Events at Cancer Research UK, has been voted the “Motivator of the Year,” sponsored by the promotional marketing and motivation exhibition, The National Incentive Show.

The Motivator of the Year award recognises an individual who is an outstanding achiever in a business, sport, entertainment or charity capacity. Louise Holland received the award in recognition of her work leading and developing Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life event since it started in 1984.

Other nominees included Linda Bennett, Bob Geldof, Helena Kennedy QC, comedian Francesca Martinez, Olympic gold medallist Matthew Pincent and Paralympic gold medallist Tanni Grey Thompson.

Holland established Cancer Research UK’s national events department which has grown from a staff of six in 1996 to nearly 80. Her team annually raises over £38 million from events such as the London Marathon, the Great North Run and 10K run series.

In addition to the award, Holland received a £500 cheque for her charity of choice, Cancer Research UK.
