Cash for used mobiles company supports ChildLine

Mopay, the online consumer service that offers cash for secondhand mobile phone handsets, will donate 10% of the sale price of each phone it recyles to ChildLine.

Mopay buys secondhand mobile phones, assesses their condition based on four categories, and then sends the contributor a cheque within 14 days.

Phone owners can receive an online quote from Mopay by indicating their phone’s make, model and condition. For example, a Nokia 6310i in good condition will fetch around £40. Then then post it in a cushioned envelope to Freepost Mopay and, once it has been quality checked, Mopay then send out their cheque within a fortnight.

Mopay has chosen ChildLine as its charity of the year, and says that the sale of six phones could assist in the counselling of a child.

In the UK alone, 15 million handsets are discarded every year, with millions
more left in a drawer and forgotten. Fewer than 10% are recycled.

Mopay recycles the handsets and refurbishes them for resale to telecoms companies in the developing world, using “an environmentally friendly process.”
