Timberland partners with Thames21 for Earth Day

Howard Lake | 17 March 2005 | News

To mark this year’s Earth Day footwear company Timberland is partnering with Thames21, the environmental charity which works with communities to care for London’s rivers and canals.

Earth Day is an internationally recognised day of environmental action and takes place on Friday 22 April 2005. Dozens of projects around Europe are being supported by Timberland.

This will be the third year that Timberland has teamed up with Thames21. Last year Timberland employees led a team of school children on a mission to clean up a section of the river banks at Rotherhithe.

This year Timberland is organising an on-going programme of cleaning around Brentford and Kew to mark the Year of the Volunteer and is hoping to recruit up to 260 volunteers, including staff, local residents and customers. Alongside this major clean up, there will be groups removing graffiti and installing new works of art.
