DEC tsunami appeal closes – but website continues to accept donations

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) might have closed its tsunami emergency appeal on Saturday after two months, but the umbrella body’s website is continuing to encourage and accept donations two days afterwards.
The DEC has failed to co-ordinate its online appeal for the tsunami emergency appeal. While all other appeals ended on Saturday 26 February 2005, the website carried on accepting donations for a further two days, until at least as late as midday today.
The lack of co-ordination at the end of the appeal matched the appeal’s launch, which saw the online donation facility on the DEC’s website take 24 hours longer to activate than the telephone donation hotline.
