Changemakers and Ashoka’s Citizen Base Initiative (CBI) are inviting votes on the most creative resource generation ideas submitted in their recent competition.

Voting for the Changemakers Innovation Award is now underway and closes on 14 February 2005.

A judging panel has selected 12 finalists on which you can vote. Five $1,000 prizes will given to the five best ideas for creatively generating resources from a diversified citizen base, comprising individual citizens and citizen organizations, businesses, and the media.

The awards are designed to encourage such fundraising creativity because “organisations that receive support from such a citizen base ” in the form of money, people goods, and services ” have demonstrated that they are stronger and more independent than when they rely solely on foundation and government grants”.

The five winners will be announced on 21 February 2005.

Entrants were asked to submit a description of a technique that either has or will be implemented by their organisation. They had to be pioneering concepts that promise to generate significant amounts of financial, human, and/or in-kind resources for sustaining a citizen sector organisation. In addition, these ideas had to be relevant for other organisations around the world.
