MPs and Peers use eBay to fundraise online for Macmillan

MPs and Peers are auctioning personal items in an “online parliamentary auction” in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.

One-offs, signed and collectible items on offer in the auction include Baroness Thatcher’s Greatest Speeches, which will include a personalised message, and Baroness Trumpington’s shepherd’s crook.

The auction will run for 10 days from 2 February 2005.

This is the latest in a string of Macmillan campaigns and fundraising events supported years supported by MPs and Peers. Just last week, singing and performing MPs and Peers helped raise over £80,000 at the Parliamentary Palace of Varieties show in London.

Other items being auction include Bernard Jenkin’s signed photograph of himself training with the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment, from his time serving as Shadow Secretary of State for Defence; and signed copies of Baroness Boothroyd’s autobiography and Michael Howard’s favourite book, Brideshead Revisited.
