Charity Monitor closes

Charity Monitor, the four-monthly syndicated tracking study on charity fundraising trends, has ceased publication after nearly 15 years.

Charity Monitor was run by advertising, marketing and communications specialist Andrew Papworth and based on his work for the RNLI: some of its summary information was then syndicated to other charities. UK Fundraising reported on many of its findings, as published in his newsletter ‘Monitor’.

Papworth was invited to pitch competitively for the contract last year but declined, so the Monitor publication is no more.

Nevertheless, Papworth has now started a new publication for the charity sector. ‘Harvest’ will be sent out three or four times a year, and features ‘news and views about charity marketing and communications issues.’ The first two issues have featured the lack of memorable charity adveritising campaigns, new challenges for charity shops, and corporate giving.

Harvest is published on paper and is available at no charge.

Papworth also publishes a free newsletter called Telescope which is aimed at the wider marketing world.
