Increased funding to help disabled people adapt their homes

Howard Lake | 12 January 2005 | News

More than £120 million of Government funding is being made available to help disabled people adapt their homes through the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) from 2006-07. Funds for next year will be £103.3 million, a 2.1% increase compared with 2004-05.

Alongside this boost to funding, the Government is undertaking a fundamental review of how the DFG programme is administered.

A working party including officials from the ODPM, Department of Health and the Department for Education and Skills together with key stakeholders involved in delivering housing adaptations will report back in May 2005 with recommendations to improve the fairness and efficient delivery of the programme.
