Indian children's charity uses email for Tsunami disaster appeal
Like their larger counterparts, smaller charities are also using the Internet to secure donations to their emergency appeals in the wake of the Asian Tsunami earthquake disaster.
Dr B.K. Sharma, founder of the Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity, sent an email to supporters on New Year’s Day sending his best wishes, and detailing the charity’s response to the disaster and the funding it required to provide this support.
The email is plain-text only with no graphics, but is presented clearly with separate sections – an introduction, a concise appeal for funding with information on the different ways to give (including online donations), a donation form for printing out featuring prompted levels of giving and a Gift Aid statement, and a contact details section.

The appeal also encouraged supporters to forward its content to friends, family, associates and colleagues.
