Guardian Christmas Appeal passes £500,000

Howard Lake | 1 January 2005 | News

The Guardian newspaper’s Christmas Appeal has now raised over £500,000, with nearly £250,000 having been donated to the tsunami disaster fund in the past four days.

The average donation to the Appeal is now over £70, with 12 donations of more than £1,000.

The sudden influx of donations follows the Guardian’s decision to expand its appeal to cover tsunami relief work by Concern, one of its original charity partners in this year’s appeal.
