New group for solo fundraisers in Scotland

Some members of the Institute of Fundraising Scotland have set up a a Solo Fundraisers Special Interest Group.

The Group is for any fundraiser who works alone. This could include fundraisers who work within a charity with others but as the only fundraiser, fundraisers working at home, or sole fundraisers working at regional offices. In other words, the group is open to fundraisers working for both large and small organisations.

An initial meeting has been arranged for 6 December 2004 at 13.30 and will be held in Glasgow. Future meetings will probably also be held in Edinburgh and Stirling.

The group’s founders plan to use the first meeting to compile a group calendar listing key events, special interest group meetings, informal lunches, charity events, conferences, together with school and public holidays to help fundraisers plan their events.

The Group will be Chaired by John Brady, Alcohol Focus Scotland. The joint secretaries are Gill Sinclair, Craighalbert Centre and Angela Mason, Breast Cancer Care and Tom McQuade, British Heart Foundation.
