The Sun is saying it with roses in backing the RHS Bicentenary Glasshouse appeal.

The newspaper is donating 96 bush roses of the variety ‘Special Anniversary’ to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to mark its Bicentenary and as a gesture to encourage donations from the public towards a new £7.7m Bicentenary Glasshouse and learning centre at RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey.

RHS Gardens Wisley in Surrey, Hyde Hall in Essex, Rosemoor in Devon, and Harlow Carr in Yorkshire will each receive 24 roses later this month. ‘Special Anniversary’ is a very fragrant deep pink Hybrid Tea.

“I hope this gesture is the prompt that encourages many visitors who’ve enjoyed the RHS Gardens to make a donation to improve them even further,” said Peter Seabrook, Gardening Editor of The Sun.
