Google offers £50 of free AdWords advertising
If you have thought about advertising your fundraising activities online but held back because of the cost, you can now dip your toe in this area with £50 of free advertising on Google’s search results.
AdWords is Google’s context-relevant advertising tool, which allows organisations to pay to promote their services to people who search Google using particular words. The adverts appear to the left of the search results on Google pages. They also appear on the thousands of other sites that carry Google’s adverts. Indeed, you can see them on many pages of UK Fundraising in the right-hand column.
They are a very popular advertising tool and there are many reports of how effective they can be. Some charities have used them to enjoy considerable success for example in recruiting volunteers and recruiting sponsored runners.
As such they are one of the few paid-for types of online advertising that we suggest that charity clients consider. Now you have a chance to test the system out at no cost to yourself. Google is offering £50 worth of free AdWords advertising. Actually it’s £45 worth because you have to pay a £5 sign-up fee. Still, UK Fundraising is testing it out this month and early results are very encouraging. We have never paid for advertising the Web site, so this freebie proved a useful way of sticking to our principle while testing out commercial online advertising.
So, if you want to test the benefits of online advertising with Google, take advantage of their offer.
