International Animal Rescue launch online fundraising cyberpet

Howard Lake | 27 April 2004 | News

International Animal Rescue’s Cybear is a cyberpet that can be downloaded to live on a PC and which is designed to raise funds and spread information about the charity’s work rescuing ‘dancing’ bears.

Cybear is interactive! You can click his food bowl to feed him, click the roll at the bottom of the tree to visit the IAR website or click his mailbox to find out how to register for latest news and updates, as they happen!

Interestingly the readme file which opens when Cybear is installed suggests “We recommend that you consider the option of making a small donation to the work of IAR”.

Clicking on the screensaver for further information takes you to the IAR site where you view a compelling, concise appeal on behalf of the bears, before being taken to a donation page. IAR uses Paypal to handle transactions, and promotes both one-off and regular gifts. Both include a Gift Aid drop-down box to enable the charity to reclaim tax paid on donations by UK tax-payers.
