Pin badges of children’s favourites Sooty, Sweep and Soo will be raising funds for Help the Aged. There will be four badges to collect, all made by The Big Badge Company: there will be two Sooty pin badges plus Sweep and Soo, which will retail for £1 with 74p of each sale going directly to Help the Aged.

The characters are a good match for the charity: Sooty was introduced to the public in the 1950s when whole families would watch him on the television together.

Half a century on, it is hoped the campaign will generate in more than £50,000. Corporate supporters already secured include Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS plc) and Barclays Bank.

Commenting on the partnership Catherine Bennett, Senior Corporate Development Manager at Help the Aged said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for Help the Aged to work with well-known characters like Sooty and Sweep, who have fans of all ages. We hope many more companies will want to get involved in this exciting new venture and in doing so help support the charity’s vital work.”
