RNID has launched its Platinum MasterCard, issued by the Bank of Scotland, to raise funds from its supporters.

RNID will receive £5 every time someone first uses the card and an additional £5 if the card is still being used after 12 months. In addition, RNID will receive 25p for every £100 spent on the card.

Halifax plc and Bank of Scotland (HBOS) are responsible for some of the world’s most successful charity cards, raising over £15m for various charities over the years.

Patrick Holmes, RNID Director of Fundraising, explained: “We are delighted to offer the RNID affinity credit card, as these are a popular way of fundraising. They enable consumers to help charities, such as RNID, by simply going about their everyday lives.”

RNID is also working with HBOS Card Services staff to provide deaf awareness training.

The image on the card supports the charity’s key message – that deafness affects one in seven people in the UK – by featuring seven people, one of whom is picked out in colour.

The card was launched with a sponsored skydive by seven staff at HBOS Card Services. The HBOS Foundation matched the donations raised pound for pound.
