New Gift Aid outsourcing service from Fisher

Howard Lake | 26 February 2004 | News

GAIN (Gift Aid Income Now) is a new service from HW Fisher and Co’s Charity Group which offers Gift Aid outsourcing and a Gift Aid consultancy service.

Barry Gower, principal at GAIN, is convinced that charities are not optimising their Gift Aid collecting due to the complexities of the rules and the need to invest suitable resources. He set up GAIN to change this by assisting charities to receive more tax-efficient donations.

He is so confident that GAIN can significantly increase the percentage of a charity’s donations that are Gift Aid compliant that the company’s fees are entirely success-based. They charge only a percentage of the additional Gift Aid recovered as a result of their work.

GAIN’s outsourcing services include analysis of the existing database to identify qualifying donations, together with the processing of such donors to capture correct and applicable Gift Aid donations. They then handle collection of the Gift Aid tax claim, ensuring correct recording and compliance with Inland Revenue rules.

GAIN’s consultancy services include a review of a charity’s Gift Aid collection policies, audit of all documentation and forms to ensure Inland Revenue compliance is met, and a review of events and fundraising activities to ensure that they comply with Gift Aid rules.

GAIN is hosting a free breakfast seminar on Gift Aid on 16 March 2004 in London. Malcolm Cooper-Smith, chairman of St James’s Place Foundation, will explain how tax-efficient giving has contributed to the foundation’s success. The Foundation is a charitable trust operated by one of the City’s leading financial institutions, and has a reputation for comprehensive use of Gift Aid.
