Charity staff turnover is 22%, says large scale study
Charities on average have to recruit nearly a quarter of their workforce again each year, according to the People Count„¢ survey by Agenda Consulting.
This high level of staff turnover compares to 15% in the private and public sectors. Of course turnover is different within the various disciplines within the sector: managers have a 13% turnover rate, while turnover in the disability sector is 25%. Fundraisers too have a higher turnover than finance or administration staff.
The survey examined performance and practice at 117 voluntary organisations with 100 staff or more.
