Four years of UK Fundraising News e-mail newsletter

Howard Lake | 29 January 2004 | News

Next week’s issue of UK Fundraising News marks the fourth anniversary of our free fortnightly e-mail newsletter.

The newsletter, which features all the latest news and additions to the UK Fundraising Web site, has been sent out at no charge since 7 February 2000. It was designed to help fundraisers and fundraising companies keep in touch with new additions to the site, without having to remember to visit the site every day. After moving to daily updates to the site in 1998, we knew many users were finding it difficult to keep track of all new additions.

It has proved a popular publication, with 6,660 subscribers, and growing currently by between 10 and 15 subscribers a day. We believe it is the largest and most current e-mail subscription list of fundraisers and related staff in the UK. It also has subscribers in over 100 countries around the world.

Originally the newsletter was published in plain text. When in February 2003 we became convinced enough of our audience could and might wish to receive a graphical HTML version we started publishing the newsletter in two formats, plain text and HTML.

What was the news in February 2000? Headlines included:

The newsletter carries listings of all job advertisements on UK Fundraising, plus the latest discussions on the UK Fundraising Forum, and details of any new books added to the UK Fundraising Bookshop.

Published at no charge, like the Web site, UK Fundraising News is funded by commercial advertising. Enquiries on that front should be made to David Ding on 0207 770 6288.

Future developments for the newsletter include bringing it into the same system that runs UK Fundraising’s daily and weekly news and job alert service. When this is done, users will be able to select all e-mail alerts from UK Fundraising from one simple sign-up page.

If you haven’t discovered UK Fundraising News in the past four years, you’re most welcome to sign up for it today.
