Plan UK offers festive screensaver

Children’s charity Plan UK is once again offering an advent calendar screensaver for download from its Web site.
The screensaver, available for both Windows PCs and Macs, features pictures, stories and audio files from the communities around the world where Plan works, together with a reminder to become a Plan’s sponsor and to forward it onto friends and families.
The Web site too features a facility to promote the free screensaver to friends, family and colleagues via e-mail.

The screensaver has been offered again following its success last year. OD Consultancy has produced both screensavers. In both years, however, the link to “sponsor a child” requires the user to visit the Plan UK Web pages. For many people on dial-up this might not be straightforward, or even expected given that they are viewing a screensaver. Perhaps the calendar should have featured page with further details about sponsoring a child, rather than requiring the viewer to visit a Web site.
Plan Ireland is also offering a similar free screensaver.
