Forty sponsored runners and nine skydivers have raised money for Fight for Sight during 2003.
Seventeen individuals ran the London Flora Marathon, raising over £15,000 between them, including Keith Turner from Brighton. Keith is blind and ran the marathon with the help of guide Duncan Blackburn. They raised £4,300 themselves.
Another nine runners raised £900 in the Flora Light Challenge for Women, on 14 September 2003, and the Belfast Marathon attracted a team from Specsavers, who raised £770. The British 10K Road Race in July had ten runners, raising almost £1,000.
Meanwhile nine people chose to skydive for Fight for Sight, raising a total of £960 for the charity.
Julie Buckler, Chief Executive for Fight for Sight, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled with the amount our sporty supporters have raised.”
