Howard Lake | 22 November 2003 | News

BBC Children in Need yesterday evening raised £15,305,212, overtaking the record £13.5m raised last year.
This year’s figure was the most the children’s charity fundraising campaign has ever raised in one night. The charity hopes therefore to beat last year’s final total of £26 million.
According to the BBC, 10.3 million people watched the start of the TV telethon at 7pm on Friday. The audience peaked at 12 million at 9pm, representing a 47.7% share of the total TV audience.
Since it started in 1980, BBC Children in Need has raised more than £340 million.
The next deadlines for applying for funds from BBC Children in Need are 30 November 2003 and 30 March 2004. The new application forms and guidelines are already available in both English and Welsh and can be downloaded from the Children in Need Web site.
