Fight for Sight's Radio 4 appeal raises £35,000 in five weeks

Fight for Sight has raised £35,000 with a radio appeal launched by Baroness Betty Boothroyd, PC, President of the charity which funds research into the prevention of blindness and treatment of eye disease.

Baroness Betty Boothroyd, PC, President of Fight for Sight, launched the appeal with a broadcast on 7 September 2003.

The broadcast, which was aired three times on Radio 4, described the plight of Michael, who has macular degeneration, and how Fight for Sight funds research to help people like him. Over a thousand listeners were inspired by the broadcast to donate money to Fight for Sight.
