NEC launches click-to-give online word tree

Howard Lake | 22 August 2003 | News

Computer manufacturer NEC has launched Ecotonoha, a cross-between an environmental click-to-give Web site and a mass-participation artwork.

Ecotonaha is a virtual tree or “online word tree” where visitors can add a leaf in the form of a message. Thousands of people are contributing messages and growing a new tree each day.

From July 14 to December 25 2003 NEC will plant a tree on Kangaroo Island, Australia, for every 100 signatures or leaves added to Ecotonaha. As with other click-to-give sites, visitors are permitted to add a maximum of one signature each day.
