The Watchtower asks what is happening to charity?
The 1 June issue of the Jehovah’s Witnesses publication The Watchtower focuses on charity and giving.
The Watchtower accepts that due to some examples of mismanagement and fraud in charities some people question whether they should continue to give to charities. “What kind of giving does God expect?” asks the magazine.
An article entitled “Giving that pleases God” examines the biblical underpinning of giving charitably. It argues individual giving is important but that “the right motive is vital.” Although supporting organised relief can be effective, “when it come to organised charity… we need to be cautious as we evaluate the many appeals we receive. Some charities have high administrative or fundraising costs…”

It concludes that “there is a giving that is even more important than charity.” This is the requirement for Christians to help others spiritually through preaching.
