Oxfam, Shelter, Children with Leukaemia and Whizz-Kidz have raised over £250,000 using Bmycharity’s online fundraising service in the 2003 Flora London Marathon.

The Bmycharity service helps many charities generate income while reducing administrative costs. Bmycharity’s client charities raised a total of over £400,000 from the London Marathon alone.

Shelter, 2003 London Marathon charity of the year, has pioneered the use of Bmycharity Group Giving, a service which enables groups of fundraisers to team up with linked homepages. This service proved popular with corporate teams: a team of runners from Walt Disney Ltd and each member of the Cranfield Centipede used the service to encourage friends and colleagues to make donations online quickly and securely.

Children with Leukaemia, 2002 London Marathon charity of the year, raised over £100,000 and donations are still coming in.

Oxfam use Bmycharity to maximise the efficiency of their Marathon fundraisin. By encouraging donors to donate online rather than offline the charity can benefit from efficiency cost savings. Over 30% of Oxfam’s 2003 London Marathon target funds were donated online.

Whizz-Kidz, who pioneered online marathon fundraising with Bmycharity in 2001, are building on this experience and introducing even better support for their runners and supporters.

Bmycharity has recently entered into a partnership with the Event Managers’ Forum (EMF), offering discounts and additional support to EMF members.

Bmycharity will be sharing the details of some of the above successes at a knowledge share conference in London on 24 June.
