Scout Association launches first appeal in 10 years

Howard Lake | 13 May 2003 | News

Ten years on from the Promise Appeal, the Scout Association is launching its Windsor appeal.

The Chief Scout has instigated the Windsor Appeal to raise money for a lasting gift for St George’s Chapel Windsor. The Chapel holds a special place in Scouting history; in 2004 it will be 70 years since King George V granted King’s Scouts the honour of parading in St. George’s Chapel.

The Chief Scout George Purdy, CBE said: “Our Patron, Her Majesty the Queen has welcomed the offer of a lasting and public expression of gratitude at St George’s Chapel from Scouting to acknowledge the Movement’s special relationship with the Chapel. The money donated to the Windsor Appeal will result in something that Scouters will be proud of.”
