Former President Clinton announces largest ever gift to NSPCC

Former US President Bill Clinton will today announce a £6 million donation to the NSPCC, the largest ever gift to the charity, by Mark and Debbie Langford of the Manchester-based Amulet Group.
Mr Clinton will be joined by HRH The Duke of York and 850 guests when he gives a special address on children’s issues at the Amulet Winter Ball in aid of the NSPCC at Knowsley Hall, Merseyside, the home of Lord and Lady Derby.
He will reveal Mark and Debbie Langford are making the £6 million gift, believed to be the largest ever amount given in this country for a social cause, to help set up a new NSPCC ‘Listening Centre’ project in Manchester.
Mark and Debbie Langford co-founded Amulet the financial services group and are on the NSPCC’s National Appeal Board. Mark Langford explained the reason for their donation: “Like many others, Debbie and I are both committed to helping the NSPCC eradicate cruelty to children. Abuse of children in the 21st century is totally unacceptable.
“We have been amazed by the support we have received so far from the staff of the Amulet Group, its business partners and others. No-one can put a price on the quality of a child’s life. The centre, when built, will provide invaluable support for any child in need.”
