WillAid set for November

Howard Lake | 10 September 2002 | News

WillAid, the biannual Will writing partnership between charities and solicitors, will take place in November this year.

WillAid is a free Will making campaign where solicitors throughout the UK give their time for free to draw up simple Wills in the hope that Will makers will donate to a consortium of seven overseas development charities.

The campaign to recruit solicitors began in January 2002, and the public campaign itself will take place this November. Although it’s not open to other charities, it’s a valuable initiative and worth supporting if you haven’t yet made a Will.

Indeed, given that most charitable Wills include more than one charitable beneficiary, it could be in all charities’ interests to promote this campaign. The chances are that some of your supporters will still not have made a Will: a recent survey for WillAid of more than 19,000 people between 25 and 64 years old found that 75% of men and women under 44 do not have an up-to date Will.

This year the campaign organisers hope to recruit 1,800 solicitors and 5,500 Will makers.
