A donation from the Abbey National Charitable Trust has allowed young person’s information site TheSite.org to extend its services to the visually impaired.

The new site enables those with sight difficulties to view the independent ‘information for living’ offered by TheSite.org.

Ana Moreno from Abbey National’s Community Affairs Team said: “We are delighted to be part of this new and innovative project which will open up a world of possibilities to many young people who would otherwise not have access to the internet. Abbey National’s total commitment to empower disadvantaged people to live fuller lives is reflected in the ongoing support to charities such as TheSite.org and the RNIB.”

Donna Smillie, RNIB’s Best Practice Officer for Accessible Web sites, commented: “RNIB has been campaigning for some time now on the need to make the Web more accessible to people with sight problems. It is encouraging to see the growing range of organisations, like Abbey National and TheSite.org, who take accessibility seriously, and are prepared to do something about it.”
