The response to the Goma volcano appeal confirmed this trend with £16,500 being donated online in two days, three times as much as was donated via the telephone.

This trend is not new. In June 2001 UK Fundraisng reported that Oxfam had been surprised to note that more was given online to the February Indian earthquake appeal than was given via the telephone.
