Australians with a taxable income of over $1m are giving less to charity, according to a survey by the Queensland University of Technology.

Australians with a taxable income of over $1m are giving less to charity, according to a survey by the Queensland University of Technology. Almost 40% of them did not register any charitable donation on their tax claim in 1998-99.

Of course the survey relies solely on the information submitted in the tax claim. Yet even using the information available, tax-deductible donations made by those earning more than $1 million dropped by an average $9,355.73 to $26,644.
