The first charity set up to help farmers suffering because of the foot-and-mouth crisis has been registered by the Charity Commission.

The Arthur Rank Centre Addington Fund (charity reg no 1085665) has been established to relieve poverty suffered by those employed in the agricultural and kindred industries. During the current foot and mouth crisis the charity will be able to make grants to farmers suffering from its effects.
