Six TV celebrities squirmed on Channel 4 and BBC TV this evening as they had to choose which fellow celebrity to eject from the Celebrity Big Brother house. Comic Relief’s rebranding of last summer’s cult TV programme is inspired and should prove lucrative. As last year, viewers are encouraged to vote by ‘phone to eject a celebrity. In this case though 15.5p of the 25p maximum call charge is donated to Comic Relief.

They called the 1999 Comic Relief campaign “the Record Breaker.” This year surely will live up to that name. There are strong hints that the online fundraising component is expected to generate substantial income. Will we see the first million pound plus total for online donations in one day? We think so. We’ll find out in a week’s time.
