eTapestry provides electronic receipting through Canadian-based Sentient

eTapestry.com, in partnership with Sentient Inc., now offers

non-profits a way to comply with Canadian laws on charitable giving through electronic receipting integrated in its Web-based donor database and communications solution.

Within eTapestry, Sentient produces a unique, serialized electronic receipt in the form of a PDF file that can be e-mailed or printed for regular mailing to the donor. The receipt can be tracked back to the charity’s database.

Canadian law requires that charities provide serialised receipts with a government-issued charity business number to donors. Charities also must have the ability to track that information back to the donation. American regulators have discussed the possibility of establishing similar laws in

the United States.

“This new process will help our Canadian customers tremendously,” said Steve Rusche, founder and chief operating officer of eTapestry. “It also will make it easier for all of our customers to deal with the time-consuming practice of issuing donor receipts. And, if laws similar to Canada’s are imposed in the United States and elsewhere, all of our

customers will be ready to comply.”
